Electric Cars Too Quiet

It has been said that electric cars are causing accidents because they are too quiet. Having driven in an electric car many times, I can vouch for the fact that many people walk in front of it and look in surprise at the car as if they did not hear it approaching. However, this tends to happen only in a supermarket car park, when many shoppers seem to think that they can walk anywhere they like and cars should stop for them. It may have been surprise at an approaching car, not the fact that it was so quiet. (more…)
